My father and mentor, a recently retired 43-year State Farm Insurance Agent, taught me everything I need to know to be successful in the insurance business. Dad summarized the philosophy in two sentences:

Hi, my name is Tim Holt and welcome to HSA for America. I can provide you with a wide range of policies from the top rated companies in the state to handle your individual and family health insurance needs.
Insurance has been a part of my life since I was a boy. I was born and raised in a small suburb of Pittsburgh,PA. My father started and built a very successful local Insurance Agency in Pittsburgh and he brought me into the business and I started working for him full time in 1989. My father retired a couple years ago (I'm 49 years old so it's been awhile ago) and it was actually his sister, Diane Dunning, a fellow adviser at HSA for America, that introduced me to Wiley Long, the President of HSA for America, that lead me to the wonderful career that I enjoy today.
I really enjoy the interaction that I have with my customers, and knowing that I am playing a role in helping them choose a health care plan that works for them and their family, and still fits into the monthly budget. I can't relate to you how good it feels when you can actually help someone get the exact health plan that they want, at a price they can afford.
Just last week I had a call from Sheila S. thanking me for getting her husband to choose a health insurance plan for their family. She told me "before you started talking to him, he wouldn't even say health insurance out loud let alone purchase a policy". We started off talking about how the Dallas Cowboys were going to do this year, and ended up getting his family covered with a great policy.

Helping people seems to run in the family. My sister Pam is a Registered Nurse, my younger brother Jeff is a computer engineer that works for a company that helps the disabled communicate, and my older brother Terry is the CEO and owner of an Oil and Gas Consulting firm. He tells me “I'm the guy that is responsible for the heat you have in your house during the winter.” Mom is now and has always been the “glue” that holds the whole family together. I laugh now at how she used to anguish over whom to go see if my brothers and I would be playing baseball on the same night. She is the true matriarch of the family!
Sports have always been a big part of my family since I was born. The entire family is physically active with a passion for sport and athletic events. Since I was raised in Western Pennsylvania (Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas, and more) football ruled the day. My father has had season tickets since 1970 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. We still share and still divide the season tickets among the whole family, three generations of Steelers fans in the family now.
I also played football and was fortunate enough to have received many scholarship offers from many Universities to go and play football for their program. I had an appointment to the Naval Academy; however, I changed my mind and accepted a full scholarship from the University of Tulsa. Tulsa was great and I enjoyed all 4 years I spent in school there. One final note, I was recently honored to be inducted into my High Schools Sports Hall of Fame!

I also have a three-year old Golden Retriever. Her name is Maggie and I have spoiled her rotten-she is my shadow and my “little pup.” She can usually be found under my desk or laying on my chairs legs during the day when I am on the phone with customers. Maggie demands attention and exercise though, so that means I have to exercise also! A win-win for Maggie and me.
