March 23, 2006, the Ohio State Medical Association
(OSMA) endorsed Health Savings Accounts before the
OH House Ways and Means Committee, during testimony
on a bill that would require the state to offer such
accounts as an option to its employees.
"(Heath
savings accounts) will help foster the consumer-driven
health-care movement, which will ultimately result
in patients becoming more involved in their health-care
dollars," said Jeff Smith, director of government
relations for the OSMA.
