About a month ago I received notice that our health insurance was once again going up. It has more than doubled in the last 5 years. I decided it was time to do something. I had received e-mails from your company, due to some research I had done on the internet previously, so I decided to give you a try. When I got into your website and did some comparisons between insurance companies, I was overwhelmed and that is when I called. I was connected with Mark Rigdon and we talked about the options that were available and what he thought would be the best HSA plan for my husband and I. He recommended Humana One. The frustrating part for me was trying to figure our what insurance was best. Your website provided me with the ability to compare companies but it was almost overwhelming. Most say they can't afford it. That's when I launch into my speech about how it is really affordable, but the major players in the pre-paid health care industry (third party payors is the politically correct term) don't want people to know that they can afford alternative coverage that is actually less expensive!
Convincing people that first-dollar benefits are very expensive to insure is not easy. You have done a very good job of getting the message out.
I'm glad you are out there getting the word out. Thanks from those of us in the health care industry who are concerned about access and affordability and helping us get back to a point where price shopping, supply and demand and other market forces keep prices in check. I long for the day when networks are a thing of the past and insurance is truly portable.
I've actually referred a couple of patients to your website as an information source on HSA's and high deductible plans. I've got to be careful not to endorse any certain broker or company, so I emphasize the HSA part of what you do and encourage them to educate themselves as much as possible and find the plan that fits their needs. The uninsured often argue the reasoning for paying a premium for a deductible that they never meet; I use the example of one week stay in the ICU after an accident or major orthopedic surgery which could easily be 50-100k. I tell them a $10,000 bill won't bankrupt you but a $100,000 bill certainly could.

I was looking specifically for a HSA compatible plan when I came across your site. All the important information is certainly there and easily accessible. I learned about the many investment options available through HSAs from your site.
I will definitely fund my HSA, in fact I will probably go ahead and pay my premiums and medical expenses out of pocket (post-tax), because I want to maximize my tax free compounding interest in the HSA account.
My previous insurance plan cost nearly $1,000/month with $5,000 deductible and 10% coinsurance thereafter. My HSA compatible plan costs $194/month with $10,000 deductible and pays 100% thereafter. Even if we meet our deductible we are about even with the old plan. If we remain healthy we will be well ahead.
My only regret is that I did not act quickly enough to have my plan in place before the new year, so my maximum contribution is slightly lower this year. I have to say, though, that you did warn me about this in your emails.
You provided excellent service and you really made the job of finding the right coverage for me easy. I have already recommended you to others. I can't think of anything you could do better.

Just wanted to let you know I DO agree with the personal responsibility aspect of health coverage. I have been in this industry for 12 or so years and I can say that the sick rise up the rates for the well. Imagine on a large scale if things change and the government has a hand in it. Could you imagine what our taxes would be then?
If you sit around, eat chips and fast food, drink sodas and smoke then it seems obvious you will not be well. These are the people that drive up costs.
Health insurance companies pay astronomical amounts on claims that are for people like this but, funny how they don’t have to be told to change their lifestyle. You wouldn’t believe (or actually you probably would) some of the claims and clinical info I see that prove this.....daily.
We all have bad days or get ill every now and then, but these folks seem to believe as long as someone makes a pill for something, then it is ok to keep doing the same thing.
Anyhow, I love the site and I will be visiting frequently! Thanks for reading my rant.

expected to be covered, were not. There have been add-ons (memberships
in consumer groups) that the company implies are required until you really
press them. Oh, the 'memberships' cost additional money that they simply
add to your monthly fee. The rates go up each year, even when you have
no claims and are healthy. I dislike having to pay for other people's

Dealing with insurance issues has never been any fun, but I found between your site’s info and your quick and efficient handling of my questions, I was able to make a good decision in less time and move on. I’ve sat in the same room with insurance guys who couldn’t make the process as clear to me as you did through your web site. I’ve already passed your name on to several friends, something I never did with my former insurance agent/broker.
At this point, our new HSA-qualified plan only covers a major medical situation, so my family is covered if we do need “MD” type services, yet my out of pocket expenses for the plan itself are $1,300.00 less per year. In a nutshell, I pay considerably less for my insurance, get a tax break on the money I use for my healthcare expenses, my healthcare money can grow if I don’t need it and I never lose it if I don’t use it. Finally it’s a bit of a break in the medical / insurance industry racket.
For me and my family, it’s all about staying healthy and for now, HSA’s are the best and least expensive way to assist that while having a backup plan in case we need one.

You are saving me so much money! You found the perfect program suited for my needs. Thank you! I was looking for a cheaper premium and better service than what I had, and I found that with you!
I was paying Mega Health a premium of $133.00 per month and if I remember correctly, I had certain benefits where they would cover up to a certain amount for certain things, but then I had a deductible of $2,000.00....for accidents...I think... It was very confusing.
With Mega Health, I didn't really know all that I was or wasn't covered for. And since I thought I was covered for doctor visits, etc. I went a few months ago for a check up. So when I started getting bills which now total $400.00 so far... I decided it wasn't worth spending $133.00 a month if I was going to have to pay most of the bill anyway!
I now pay a premium of $58.00 a month and my deductible is $2,700 which my HSA will be adding up to here in the next year. I actually understand what I have and what I'm covered for and everything.
I didn't know there was anything like an HSA out there. It is perfect for someone who never goes to the doctor.
Over all, I didn't have to pay a $120.00 start up fee with you, I'm saving $75.00 per month from what I was paying, and I'm able to deduct from my taxes what I deposit into my HSA, which will save me more money! And for someone just recently married and starting out in life, $75.00 adds up very quickly. That's $900.00 a year that I'm saving. Thank you!

think that's the ultimate price control. If I don't like the price,
I take my business elsewhere. I get to make the decision about what
can/can't be spent on my medical care.
From a practical standpoint, I hate paying $7,200 in premiums per year for services not needed, especially if I still need to pay the $1,500 deductible. So that's $8,700 dollars paid before I really start "benefiting" from owning insurance. I can afford the premiums, but it's just not a financially sound use of my hard earned dollars. I make enough income to fund a few thousand dollars per year of out of pocket dental and preventive medical expenses. I believe if everyone switched to the HSA concept, there would be no discussion of the high costs of medical care for the average American.

I had employer-provided benefits prior to my interest in HSA's. When my employer raised our biweekly contribution to over $60.00, I looked into HSA's. I couldn't believe the savings they could provide for me (a single, healthy female)!
I actually tried to get as much info on HSA's as possible and presented the information to my employers hoping they would decide to go in that direction. I realized that they would STILL save money if they provided everyone with an HSA and even funded it for them. I think because it was "out of the box" thinking, they declined but I went ahead and started one for myself.
I am currently saving about $50.00/month in premium, as my employer once again raised employee contributions. Why more people and employers don't do this is beyond me. I think if you're a fairly healthy person, the potential for saving is REAL.

What's normally frustrating in searching for health insurances is the lack of easy access to all the offers on the market, the difficulty to compare the different plans. Okay, I've finally set up and funded my HSA, with HSA Bank. So far so good. I'll be moving more money into it this month and then adding as much as possible in later years. Great savings vehicle.
The frustrating thing about shopping for health insurance is the complexity. I don't have the attention span to read through these kinds of contracts, so I have to just assume that most of what I'm skipping is boilerplate that has been looked over and approved by more patient people. Having you doing that is a big comfort.
The fact that you consolidated the plans and the HSA providers was a big help. Just doing a Google search would have turned up a lot of them, but with no sense of which are legit and which are scams based in Russia or someplace which will disappear as soon as they've got my money.

When I heard about the high deductible HSA policy's I started a search on the internet and found your web page.
